I loved John Lewis’s disposition about community. I can relate to myself. I was fascinated to read his article, which made me believe that everything is possible with love and peace. We can hope to have more individuals like John lewis in our society. I love how he is encouraging young people to fight against hate and aggression. Lewis inspires them to use love and peace. Lewis uses his life experience from his childhood until now how many obstacles he had to go through, but he never gave up, fighting against violence. I am inspired, by Lewis’s attitude about life and the power of community. After reading both articles, I could picture clearly how devoted both authors were to their community. I agree with Whitehead’s point of view about how the community changes overnight. Unfortunately, neighborhoods are expanding. As a result, everything around becomes so unfamiliar that one can feel bewildered time to time. He makes a good point when he says that it did not happen overnight, it was disappearing gradually, one only notice when it was gone. The author is proposing to support our neighborhood and try not to neglect it. At the end of the article, he delivers hope for the future. He states clearly not to judge any behavior until it happens.

Good writers always follow my rules
After reading the chapter, ” Good Writer Always Follows My Rules,” I was impressed and attracted to the ideas. The following rules usually frustrate the writer. The Regulations do not make the writer a qualified writer. I agree with the author to give freedom to the writer to be more ambiguous and make the reader more interested. I chose this chapter because I can relate to the author myself someways. I am not into writing as a profession, but I think regulations can disorient the writer. Every writer has a technique of writing. Therefore, we have to accept it. The author also states that it is better to use rules with grammar to help the audience understand the correct language. I like how the author includes how to manage the time when one is writing. We should not stop writing. They are encouraging you to find your ways to write. Usually, the results are excellent. I was impressed by how they emphasize writers’ do to judge other individuals writing styles because of their structure. I believe if the writing style is unique, it can make chapters more interesting.
My Past Year Experience
My Past Year Experience
How was my life before the pandemic? It Was quite busy, working full time and being a part time student. I was struggling to find time for my friends or to build my private life. I was constantly complaining how overwhelmed I was in the city. I was planning to travel abroad to visit my family in June 2020. Normally I would purchase tickets three months ahead, but this time I was expecting my naturalization interview, and I was not sure with my exact dates of travel. Meanwhile, I was taking my anatomy and physiology classes and was thrilled to participate, especially in the lab section. I still recall vividly before the new year I was talking to my mom wishing her a happy new year and she told me, “Khatuna, did you watch the news? There is some kind of dangerous virus in China, and people are collapsing on the streets.” I thought she was exaggerating and didn’t really pay attention to that fact. Unfortunately, China wasn’t able to control the virus, and the whole world was and still is suffering from the pandemic. I have friends and family in Europe, and we were in connection every day. We were sharing our experience of how we are coping with coronavirus. Could anyone ever predict that we will have a pandemic in 21th century? I was only reading books about various pandemics. It sounded to me like a fiction story.
In March 2020 I went grocery shopping, and I was surprised the shelves were empty. I was not able to find a banana. I was devastated and scared. Everyone around looked worried. It looked to me like we were getting ready for the war. I was in the war when I was ten years old, and I recall how food was scarce. What can be more painful and unbearable for humans? When we are not allowed to shake our hands and give hugs to our loved ones. We had to learn how to practice social distance and how to avoid people.
I am working with an elderly couple, and I had to provide everything for them. Once a week I went shopping. I can still recall how I would wash my hair and clothing when I would come back from outside. I was afraid that I could bring a deadly virus, and we could die from it. The first two weeks were extremely difficult, to get used to the idea of lock-down, and fear of death is unbearable. I would say this pandemic had a negative impact on me. I noticed that I was more in a melancholic mood. I didn’t have a day off for two months in a row. I was staying at my job. I was able to take my remote lessons in anatomy and physiology. During the pandemic and the first two months of restrictions, I saved some money, I had a fear of a financial crisis. New York City was empty, I could count people on the Times square. Finally, after lockdown people started to come back to the city. I can still vividly recall my first trip to the Gap after lockdown. I was delighted and pleased to see that soon we may go back to normal life.
wikipedia Is Good for You?
that the internet was not available for everyone and everywhere. As a result, students went to the library to use an encyclopedia to research any topic. Wikipedia is mimicking an encyclopedia. Therefore, I am convinced that to find some information fast, Wikipedia comes in handy. After reading this article, the author convinced me why teachers refuse to Wikipedia. Purdy brings two significant reasons why teachers don’t like to use Wikipedia. First of all, Wikipedia is available for everyone to edit or write a piece of information Wikipedia without proper education it is apparent that they don’t trust this kind of source. Secondly, the information on Wikipedia is changeable because scholars don’t believe it is reliable. I agree with the author’s point of view in stating that it is important to look for the information from different sources and choose which one is a more trusted site and gives correct information about the topic. on the other hand, Purdy also states a clear explanation of how to use Wikipedia productively and where to pay attention. I agree with the writer that Wikipedia is great for generating ideas.
The Digital reader
When I have assignments normally I would print them and read afterward. I was trained to read the paper book as a child and all my adulthood. I would only read brief news on the screen and some emails. When I went back to school in 2019 it was clear to me that I have to strain my eyes to read on the screen otherwise I would be behind the program. Especially things become more severe when we went fully remotely. I had to do a test on the screen and it is still challenging. I believe soon the paper books will be obsolete. I learned how to speed my reading on the small screen.
Machines & Learning
The article was long but interesting. in the past few decades, Technology is progressing and is beneficial for us. The doctors are able to determine the early stages of cancer through imaging, and lifespan is longer than 20 years ago. The author brings examples about airplane accidents and how pilots’ knowledge declines because they are dependent on automatic devices. He mentions that pilots should be trained and observed how will they react if airplanes will lose control. I believe that technology can get out of control because it is automatic and it is obvious to have incidents. technology has pros and cons. We get so comfortable with advanced technology majority of people are relying on the technology. The main concern is to test people’s adequate knowledge because someone like a pilot should be prepared to be appropriate in action and professional in manual flying. Does Technology take jobs away? In many dimensions yes, I can see it in everyday life. unfortunately, not everyone is educated to work in high positions and advanced technology fetches jobs from the working class. I can see clearly that soon we will be in a contactless society.
how does it affect my life? technology has an important role in my life. As an immigrant, My family lives abroad and because of technology, i am able to see and talk to them. I read on my phone. I listen to various teachers every day if i am not able to read. technology played a tremendous role in my education past two years. I am able to access any information and scrutinize it because of technology. I am convinced that technology somehow made huge differences in many people’s lives and like mentioned before it has pros and cons.
A Talk to Teachers
According to author the teacher plays tremendous role in child’s development and I totally agree with this statement. Childhood is important part for the healthy future. In many times children unfortunately have chaos in the family and neighborhood. the school is the place where they can have quality few hours. I am not judging their care-givers, it can be various reason what can cause parent to be oblivious. Therefore, the system should be responsible to help families like that at least provide schools where children can see and hear that they can have education and become professionals and don’t have to be criminals. I had interactions with various teachers, some of them had positive and also negative impact on my education. as a student you always obey your teacher, I was raised in society where teacher is always right. I recall my biology teacher from the first day when she entered the class, she was rude and was bulling the children. I started having aversion to her subject and never wanted ever look at her book and biology. She was horrible teacher.
James Baldwin made correct decisions when he was very young, I assume he had excellent teacher or someone who told him that there is better life and you are responsible for your fortunate future. I can relate myself in some degree with him, because my life was turned upside down when I was 10 years old. I always think it had huge influence on my education in negative way. Psychological satisfaction is crucial for child. Fortunately, two years later life started to go back to normal and I was able to come over obstacles. I loved my teachers. My parents could not afford to buy book from me. school was not providing books for children and you were responsible to purchase your own book. I had teachers how helped me with math for free because I was two years behind in the program. My family always wanted my brother and I to have high education and of course I am convinced that it was my inner voice whispering to me that education can give you a better life. I truly believe, every child deserves to have a teacher who can make them feel that they worth something and there is always path to the successes.
The author is using various rhetorical one of them sounds positive he is using ethos in the last paragraph when the author shares his ideas what would he do if he was a teacher. Baldwin would encourage the child with following sentences “I would try to make each child know that these things are conspiracy and he must never make his peace with it.”
Tylor Branson’s article about “ FIRST-YEAR COMPOSITION PREPARES STUNEDTS FOR ACADEMIC WRINTING” was my choice to think about why this is a bad idea. when I enrolled in to college I was told that composition writing was mandatory for everyone in the first year of college. I was quite surprised in the beginning, because my major was vastly different that writing a composition. I followed all the instructions and started to write a composition. I strongly agree that is crucial to know how to write and read on academic level, but I don’t agree that one year can make a student professional writer to write research papers on high level. In many case if student is lucking accurate spelling and grammar rules, they are prone to make tones of mistakes. The author himself believes that first year is not enough to prepare students for academic writing. It should start in the high school. I don’t know what kind system of learning is in the high school in the U.S.A., but I believe the students should start to write correctly before starting a college, which can prepare them for next step in the education. College bombards students with different academic subjects. Therefore, every student should be prepared to handle numerous assignments, which they will be facing from every subject. Spelling and grammar issues are lingering with me. I still struggle with this, because English is not my mother tongue. academic vocabulary is important to be a good writer and truly understand the subjects. In conclusion to write efficiently requires more than one year of training to learn how to write on academic level. I believe that brain storming is vital to writing composition, otherwise nobody will able to write a sentence. Majority of students if they were trained in the high-school how to write compositions on scholar level, they would be more successful in college. Academic writing requires academic vocabulary and it is not a basic general writing.
Do we always pay attention to the title of the article? I am always reading headline, sometimes I will get into authors mode and continue reading and amuse myself, but sometimes I just get tidies after reading few sentences as a result I move to other article. After reviewing all articles to read of them briefly I was hooked with the title “is marriage obsolete?” I started reading carefully, as I was getting more into story my interest grew and I was eager to find out what she had to share with the reader. I like her style of writing because she is not boring writer. I loved how she used an example of animal’s love life as a couple and how they care about each other, it was amazing to read. I believe she is using narrative genre of writing. In the beginning I thought she would start stating various reasons why should be marriage to be considered as an obsolete, but as a good writer she was ambiguous until the end. She is bringing out all the pros and cons of marriage. It is beautiful to read how she describes her marriage details and she is honest about obstacles in marriage and she uses her marriage as an example. The author is trying to make a point that new generation is perceives the marriage absolutely in other way than is was before. Woman is independent and powerful today. woman is able to earn enough money to pay all her bills, travel, buy house and be able to survive without man. From the history, she brings the fact that woman was not allowed to owe anything. she uses research, while she is telling us the story. I was little confused with her daughter. She was in one moment blaming herself. She believed that her daughter was against getting married or build a family because of them. The author is explaining that her daughter was witnessing how boring and tidies their marriage was after 12 years of living together. I don’t agree with the author. I believe living together even if you live with your own parents becomes tidies and one is looking for better place. We just have to help each other to make our everyday life more interesting and don’t blame each other. In conclusion she is stating that, When you are couple it is important to acknowledge the issues and stand by each-others side.
Identity and single story
I can relate myself to Mohamed Hassan’s poem “Unlearning my Name”. I was impressed that there is someone who made a poem about this topic, he is brilliant. My teachers were trying to do their best to make me happy pronouncing my name last 16 years. I heard several versions of it, you name it. I loved my name even more, because it was my identity and I would not change it. I can understand also how difficult is to pronounce new name, and it is obvious when people are exposed to new foreign name, mistakes are inevitable.
Adichie’s ted talk was incredible and interesting. She described how can one single story crate chaos in our perception. She is utterly talented. After listening to her, i started thinking about my childhood, how was my imagination about single stories. I would red fairy tale from different story tellers specially I adored the brothers Grimm. I would like to bring one example from fairy story. I am from republic of Georgia and I was introduced to typical Russian folk tale, I am sure that every child knew and read about it in Russia. She was character of supernatural female, her name was “ Baba Yaga”. she was an ugly old woman with a long nose, she lived in the forest in small house, which was standing on chicken legs. When I was little girl, I truly believed that there is somewhere “angry grandmother”, and she will hurt me if I will enter into her house. When I became older my perception changed, luckily my frontal lobe was developing properly. I was not anymore petrified of “Baba Yaga”.
Is it inappropriate to judge a person or nation only after reading or listening single story? How many times we would imagine something incorrectly because we do not try to get underneath? I was asked many times if in Georgia people had toilet inside. I was not embarrassed but was surprised because many times they had no clue where Georgia was, but they were brave enough to ask me that weird question.
